Fuelling Issues

Greetings all, been a while since last posting but back again. As you can see we just got a caravan. It was a tatty thing but cleaned up a treat, its an Abbey Piper 5 berth. Jen made new curtains, and we had to put a new floor in. We took her to the LRO show at Peterborough 7-9th Sept for our first weekend away, and thanks to the hospitality of the NORK's we had a great time.
Sadly the preceding month was not so much fun. Whilst holidaying (without caravan) in Brancaster, North Norfolk, we had serious fuel issues. At the time we put this down to contaminated or bad fuel (i was running on WVO) which basically blocked up the fuel filter and fuel pump. We never really managed to resolve it, but we got it running well enough to get us home. Sadly this left a 3 day dent in the holiday without transport. Thanks tho to Mario in Kings Lynn for help with parts. (A Chatham boy bless him!). Once home i called upon the services of a mate - Jeff - who fairly surely diagnosed a bad earth in the alarm system which he believed was shutting the fuel cut off solenoid off. The alarm was sorted, but the trouble remained. Next stop we decided to get the sender unit out to check if the internal rubber hose had perished. We struggled big time with the hose unions on the sender side, and when we couldn't undo them decided to leave it. Only after reassembly with the engine running, did we check for any air leaks. Its then that purely by chance i spotted a sourt of diesel where there shouldn't be one. After cleaning the rust of the pipe we discoved a small hole in the supply side. I guess air had been getting in through the layer of rust, and causing the problem. New sender now installed and no problems since then. What a relief !!
